A manufacturer makes a flavoring from natural fruit. It needs the product to have a consistent aroma from batch to batch. One quality indicator is the level of a particular substance that plays an important role in this fruit's aroma. Knowing that the substance is present is not enough: the manufacturer needs to know how much is in each batch.
How we set up the analysis
We set up quantitative chromatographic analysis. To calibrate the instrument, we used a pure reference sample of the substance at a known concentration. This allowed us to measure its level in the finished flavoring, rather than merely confirm its presence.

Once the analysis was set up, the manufacturer began sending samples from subsequent batches. We measure the same substance under the agreed method so that the customer can compare results and monitor product consistency.
Outcome
Our cooperation continues under a contract. So far, we have analyzed around 20 batches of the industrial flavoring. The manufacturer gets a numerical result for each batch and can spot changes in the product during production.
