Food flavouring analysis: measuring an aroma compound

For a food manufacturer, we quantified an aroma compound in a food flavouring and determined its actual concentration in the samples supplied by the company.

One sample contained an unusually high level of the aroma compound. The client arranged repeat testing at an independent laboratory abroad, which obtained a similar result.

Botanical dietary supplements: plant identification and composition checks

We advised private clients and suppliers of botanical dietary supplements on the feasibility of determining their composition. Their enquiries concerned plant material identification and whether supplement ingredients matched the composition stated on the label.

We proposed a comprehensive laboratory investigation to confirm supplement composition and demonstrated the feasibility of identifying plant-derived components in specific samples supplied by the client.

Botanical raw material quality and compliance requirements

We advised private clients, dietary supplement suppliers and a pharmaceutical company on laboratory testing of botanical raw materials with a known botanical origin. We proposed investigations to assess compliance with applicable requirements.

We recommended raw material analyses and strategies for comprehensive quality control, including options for selecting the parameters and methods needed to check dietary supplement composition against established requirements.

API purity control: analytical method validation, adaptation and transfer

We advised a pharmaceutical company preparing to launch a new active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) on laboratory testing of the pharmaceutical substance’s purity.

We proposed an approach to validating a pharmacopoeial API purity method and implementing it in the company’s laboratory. We also presented an option for adapting the analytical method to the company’s existing equipment, which differs from that specified in the pharmacopoeia.
